A man suspected to be involved in the fire which left three people, including a child, dead on the Kannur Express on Sunday night in Kerala has been detained. Joint team of Central Intelligence and Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra nabbed him from Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. 27-year-old accused Shahrukh Saifi, is a resident of Noida. A team of Kerala police left for residence of Shahrukh Saifi, accused in Kozhikode train fire incident, situated in Shahin Baugh.

DGP Anil Kant said,” The suspected accused has been taken into custody in the incident of fire in a train in Kozhikode, Kerala. He will be brought back to Kerala. I am in touch with DGP of Maharashtra. After detailed interrogation of the accused, we will be able to get more information.”
On arrest of Shahrukh Saifi, accused of lynching 3 passengers in a running train, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the person who committed this heinous crime has been detained in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. I thank Maharashtra Govt, their police and RPF and NIA who nabbed him so quickly.
A police officer said Saifi was admitted to a hospital in Ratnagiri after he fell from a train near Khed on April 3 and sustained injuries to his forehead.
An eye-witness said soon after the train was stopped, the suspect wearing a red shirt and jeans jumped out of it and fled. The train was stopped on a bridge on the Korapuzha River and it triggered more panic.
