Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury slammed the centre on Friday for slapping Public Safety Act on two former chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir who are already in detention and stated that the region is physically with India but no longer with us emotionally. He said that, “Prime Minister spoke against Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti in Parliament yesterday & they were charged with Public Safety Act (PSA) at night. You cannot govern Kashmir like this. Physically Kashmir is with us but not emotionally.”
Prior to Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, Congress leader and former home minister of the country P. Chidambaram tweeted, “I am shocked by the brutal action of Public Safety Act (PSA-PSA) against Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and others”. Action on anyone without allegations is the worst step of democracy. When unjust laws are passed or unjust laws are enforced, what option do people have other than to protest in peace?

After the implementation of PSA, now these two leaders can be kept in custody for two years without any trial. On Thursday in Lok Sabha, PM Narendra Modi gave a befitting reply to Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, who made unparliamentary remarks. After thanking the Mahatma Gandhi Zindabad slogan of Congress Parliamentary Party leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary during the motion of thanks on the President’s address to the Lok Sabha, PM Modi said that Gandhiji can be a trailer for you, life is for us.
