Pulwama: Security forces in Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir eliminated at least two terrorists from the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen group in an encounter on Friday.
The encounter took place in Khrew in Pampore area of Awantipora in Pulwama during wee hours of Friday.
As per available details, a joint team of police, Army and CRPF had launched a cordon and search operation in Krew. When the team approached a spot, militants hiding there opened fire, triggering a gunfight. Till the last reports came i, the operation was underway.
One of two terrorists who were killed was identified as Musaib Mustaq of Khrew. He was involved in the kiling of Javid Malik, a government employee working in the education department, in Lurgam.
According to police, the militants were part of the hit squad of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and were responsible for civilian killings in South Kashmir. They said that an AK rifle and a pistol had also been recovered from the spot.
