Bengaluru: A total of 29 ministers joined newly inducted Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s Cabinet on Wednesday afternoon. However, there is no deputy Chief Minister among them.
Earlier, the Karnataka Cabinet had three deputy CMs. However, this time around, there is none. Bommai had mentioned earlier that the state would not have any deputy CM. According to him, the decision had come from the party leadership.
BJP’s state vice-president and former CM BS Yediyurappa’s son BJ Vijayendra was not part of the swearing-in on Wednesday.
“The cabinet has a mixture of both experience and new strength,” Bommai said, adding that in the cabinet there will be 7 OBCs, 3 SCs, 1 ST, 7 Vokkaligas, 8 Lingayats, 1 Reddy, also among them is a woman.
According to Bommai, the party high-command had decided to rope in a few senior leaders with organizational experience.
The minsters were administered the oath by Governor Thawarchand Gehlot at around 2.15 pm at Raj Bhavan.
Bommai said that the list of the new ministers would be released formally by the Raj Bhavan.
He was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on July 28.
