Actor Kangana Ranaut, who is fighting a bitter ego battle with the Maharashtra government, on Thursday urged Congress’ interim president Sonia Gandhi to intervene and stop the harassment of women. Kangana Ranaut also attacked Sonia Gandhi for her “silence and indifference” on the issue.
The actor, who has been grabbing the headlines, albeit for the wrong reasons, took to Twitter to question and attack Sonia Gandhi.
What Kangana tweeted?
In a series of tweets, the actor said that Late Bal Thackeray was one of her favourite icons. She said the Hindutva leader’s biggest fear was that someday Shiv Sena will form a coalition with the Congress.
Thereafter, she changed her focus to Sonia Gandhi. Tagging the official Twitter handle of the Congress party, she said: “Dear respected honourable @INCIndia president Sonia Gandhi ji being a woman aren’t you anguished by the treatment I am given by your government in Maharashtra? Can you not request your Government to uphold the principles of the Constitution given to us by Dr. Ambedkar?”
In another tweet, she said: “You have grown up in the west and lived here in India. You may be aware of the struggles of women. History will judge your silence and indifference when your own Government is harassing women and ensuring a total mockery of law and order. I hope you will intervene @INCIndia.”
Two complaints filed against Kangana
Meanwhile, two complaints were registered on Thursday against Kangana Ranaut for allegedly using foul language against Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
The actor had on September 9 circulated a video on her social media accounts against Uddhav Thackeray. In fact, in the video, she used “tu” to address the CM.
Controversial outburst video
The actor said: “Uddhav Thackeray, tujhe kya lagta hai? (what do you think?) That you colluded along with the film mafia, demolished my home and took revenge on me? My home was demolished today, your arrogance will crumble tomorrow,” the actor said. Additionally, she said, “This is the wheel of time. Remember, it never stays the same.”
The actor’s outburst against the CM followed the demolition of alleged illegal alterations and constructions in her office by the BMC. The Bombay High Court eventually imposed a stay on the demolition, but by then the damage was already done. The actor on Thursday visited her demolished office.
Shiv Sena versus Kangana
The demolition was carried out following Kangana’s persistent attack on the Maharashtra government and Shiv Sena leaders. Her attacks were related to the poor investigation done by Mumbai police in the actor Sushant Singh Rajput death case.
However, she went on to say that she was afraid of returning to Mumbai and equated the city with Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).
What did the complainants say?
According to one of the complainants, the actor circulated a video on social media on September 9. They alleged that Kangana used “inflammatory and derogatory words” against Uddhav Thackeray. Additionally, they said that in doing so, “tried to diminish the character and challenge the dignity” of the chief minister of Maharashtra.
Drugs probe against Kangana
The Maharashtra home minister has asked the Mumbai police to probe Kangana Ranaut for use of illegal drugs. In fact, the probe was ordered in connection with an old interview of her ex-boyfriend Adhyayan Suman. The latter had said that Kangana used to consume drugs and also asked him to consume it.
