New Delhi: Sushil Tiwari, the head of a group named Hindu Army, was arrested by the Delhi police in connection with the ‘anti-minority’ sloganeering at an event at Jantar Mantar earlier this month.
The police have said that Tiwari allegedly mobilized people for the event.
Tiwari, 40, was arrested from his house late on Friday night.
The event at Jantar Mantar which was organized under the banner of ‘Bharat Jodo Andolan’ by Supreme Court lawyer and former BJP spokesperson Ashwini Upadhyay.
They were protesting against ‘colonial-era laws’ and were also demanding a uniform civil code. Upadhyay had said that he was not know who was behind the anti-minority sloganeering. He and five others were arrested on August 10. He was later granted bail on August 12 while the remaining five are still in custody.
According to a senior officer of Delhi police, Tiwari was identified on the basis of videos of the event on social media and local inquiry. The cops found out about his location in Lucknow and went there and arrested him.
