New Delhi: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur reached New Delhi on Tuesday to meet BJP leader. He reached the capital after being summoned by the party high command. He was accompanied by Principal Secretary Dr RN Batta.

On his visit to Delhi, Jairam Thakur said he had “come to attend a scheduled meeting”.  He claimed the meeting had been fixed 20 days ago. He will meet BJP national president JP Nadda on Tuesday.

The development has given rise to a lot of speculation with regard to the reason for the summons. Several memes appeared on social media.

According to reports, he had returned to Shimla from Delhi just two days back.

Netizens began to connect the development with the change of guard in Gujarat, observing that Jairam Thakur could meet a fate similar to Vijay Rupani’s.

The meeting gains significance in light of state Assembly elections next year.

Already, the sitting CMs of three states, the latest being Gujarat, have been changed by the party. Of these, Uttarakhand and Gujarat will go to polls in 2022.

Taking a dig at the party, Congress said that Thakur should focus on saving his chair. If replaced, he will be the fifth CM to meet the fate in 6 months
