Income Tax search operations at 25 places in Ahmedabad, including Popular Builders’ Raman Patel


Controversial builders – Popular Builders- is once again in news. This time Popular Builders’ Ramal Patel is among those where the Income Tax department carried out search and survey operations. The department had today searched 25 different places in the city and one of them was Raman Patel.

The search operations were carried out at the office and house of Raman Patel.

The department also carried out search operations at Dashrath Patel and Virendra Patel’s house and offices.

The search operations began at 8 am.

Recent controversies associated with Popular Builders

In August, Fizu Patel, the daughter-in-law of Raman Patel of Popular Builders accused her in-laws of forcefully kidnapping her and forcing her to sign an application favouring them. Fizu Patel had filed a case against builder Raman Patel, his wife Mayurika, son Maunang and Mukesh.

Before the complaint was filed cops had in a raid recovered Rs2.5 crore from the house of Fizu’s aunt.

Raman Patel and Fizu’s husband Maunang had been on the run since the recovery of Rs2.5 crore. They were later nabbed by the police.

Cops had also questioned Raman Patel’s brother Dashrath Patel and his son Virendra. Fizu, 33, filed a complaint against her in-laws and husband with the Vastrapur police station on August 15. Fizu lives in Deep Towers in Bodakdev.

She has accused her husband of domestic violence and her in-laws of mental harassment. On August 1, the family had come together for the birthday of their daughter Arya. Later her in-laws, husband and her father got into a fight with Fizu and her mother. Fizu has alleged that her father encouraged her in-laws to teach her a lesson.

Fizu accused her husband of hitting her which resulted in broken teeth and injury to the nose. The accused applied for anticipatory bail after the complaint was registered.

The court granted bail to Fizu’s father Mukesh and her mother-in-law Mayurika. However, it did not grant bail to Raman Patel and Maunang after which the duo approached the high court.
