General Qassem Soleimani, the head of Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and architect of its regional security apparatus, has been killed following a US air raid at Baghdad’s international airport on Friday.
The Department of Defense said, “General Soleimani was actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region. General Soleimani and his Quds Force were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American and coalition service members and the wounding of thousands more.”

According to an AFP report, Hashed Al Shaabi said in a statement that “8 people, including Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of Iran-backed militias known as the Popular Mobilization Forces and Quds Force Chief Qassem Soleimani , have died in the US attack. The US attacked his car on Baghdad International Airport Road. “
It is noteworthy that this week a mob of people in Iraq attacked the US embassy in Iraq. The US accused Iran for the attack. Since then, tensions in Iran and America had reached a peak.
