The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has suspended Manilal Patidar, a 2014 batch IPS officer on corruption charges. Manilal Patidar was suspended within 24 hours after a prominent businessman in Mahoba was found inside his car with a bullet injury on the neck.
Notably, Manilal Patidar was the police chief of Mahoba district.
A government statement on the suspension is, however, silent on the businessman. The statement provides that the decision of his suspension has been taken by the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
“His acts have maligned the image of the police force. It is alleged that he used to extort money from truckers involved in the transportation of stones in the area,” the government said.
The businessman’s condition is critical and he has been shifted to a hospital in Kanpur.
Businessman released video against Patidar
Last evening, Indra Kant Tripathi, who deals in explosives and is involved in the district’s lucrative mining industry, was rushed to the Mahoba’s district hospital. He was rushed to hospital after being found with a bullet to his neck in his Audi car on a highway near Mahoba.
The incident comes a week after the businessman shared a video on social media. In the video, he accused the IPS officer of corruption and intimidation.
