IPL 2021: MI to wrestle it out with RCB in opening match today


The 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to begin on Friday with a bang when defending champions Mumbai Indians led by Rohit Sharma will wrestle it out with under-achievers Royal Challengers Bangalore led by Virat Kohli. The first match will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai at a time when the second wave of COVID-19 is wreaking havoc in the country.

The 14th edition of the IPL which is being held in India within a gap of five months assumes importance as it is being held in a T20 World Cup year and that too in the sub-continent.

Upcoming IPL matches

After the opening match on April 9, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals will fight against each other on April 10 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. This apart, there is an interesting match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders scheduled on April 11 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. On April 12, Rajasthan Royals will contest against Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
