The 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to begin on Friday with a bang when defending champions Mumbai Indians led by Rohit Sharma will wrestle it out with under-achievers Royal Challengers Bangalore led by Virat Kohli. The first match will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai at a time when the second wave of COVID-19 is wreaking havoc in the country.
The 14th edition of the IPL which is being held in India within a gap of five months assumes importance as it is being held in a T20 World Cup year and that too in the sub-continent.
