A joint team of the Gujarat ATS and the Ahmedabad Crime Branch has nabbed four people with Rs25 lakh of MD (Methamphetamine ) drugs The cops raided and nabbed four people who were trying to get the drug deal done near Famous Hotel in Siddhpur.
The arrest has led to the exposure of an inter-state MD (Methamphetamine) drug network. The four who were arrested have been identified as Suresh Ramchandra Thakkar, Jagdish Mali, Khemaram Brahman and Imran Yasin. Thakkar, Mali and Brahman are residents of Sanchor in Jhalor taluka of Rajasthan while Yasin is a resident of Siddhpur.
The cops have recovered Rs 24.53 lakh worth of MD (Methamphetamine) drug, and 488 gm of opium worth Rs48,800 from the four. Two cars, Rs11,600 in cash, five mobile phones and a weighing scale was also recovered from them.
Police are also investigating who were the customers of the gang and how they sourced the drug. Cops are likely to make more arrests in the coming days.
Other cases of MD drugs being smuggled into Gujarat
Earlier in mid-July, three people were arrested in Ahmedabad with Rs34 lakh of Methamphetamine drugs. The accused were arrested from a hotel in Shah-Alam area of the city. Of the three arrested, one was a woman from Mumbai who had brought the consignment. In all, 342 gm of drugs were recovered from them.
Later cops also arrested the local contact of the three who originally belonged to Maharashtra. The local contact was identified as Shahnawaz who had earlier undergone a prison term for selling drugs. He was later released in 2019.
