Popular social media platform Instagram is facing outages in several geographies across the world on Thursday, with users in India also unable to use the app on their Android or iOS phones. While parent Facebook and WhatsApp are working fine, the problem appears to be at Instagram’s end only.
According to Instagram users who took to Twitter and Downdetector’s forum to report problems, the feed is not getting refreshed, the DMs are not working, and profiles are throwing an error when someone is trying to access them. Initially, people thought there was some issue with their internet connection, but people began to report issues in no time.
Instagram outage affects app, website users
At around 12.39 pm, Downdetector showed over 3,402 outage reports on its website, coming from the Indian region. We were able to independently verify that Instagram was not responding. Not only the DMs and photo feed, but the Reels were also not working and throwing an error that the feed could not be refreshed.
On the Downdetector website, while 47 per cent of users complained of having problems in the app, 27 per cent of users faced difficulties in accessing the website and 26 per cent said that they were facing server connection issues.
