Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Gandhinagar and Bhavnagar which have recorded some of the highest Covid19 cases in Gujarat will not get any relaxation of any sort for the next two weeks when the lockdown is in force. The Gujarat government on Sunday in an online briefing made several announcements about the relaxation of lockdowns and business activities across the state.
As a special case, Rajkot, which falls under the orange zone, will also be treated as a red zone in terms of relaxation. This means no activity will be allowed during the next two weeks in Rajkot.
Junagadh and Jamnagar municipal corporations have got the green light to permit industrial activities within their limits. The same is also allowed in 156 municipalities across the state. However, the six municipalities of Botad, Bopal, Khambhat, Bareja, Godhra and Umreth will not be allowed ease in restrictions. Only essential services will be available in these places.
Even areas where industrial units are allowed to function, the employers will have to make provisions to check the temperature of labourers and allow for staggered entry and exit of labour. Salons and beauty parlours have been given the greenlight to open shops in green and orange zones. GSRTC buses will start plying in green zones but will ferry only 50% of their passenger capacity.
