IndiGo Airlines has agreed to help a migrant labour and two of his friends who had sold their livestock back home to find the cash for his ticket to fly home, Bloomberg said in a report. Unfortunately, the flight was cancelled.

The workers from West Bengal had been unemployed since the lockdown began in March. They were unable to get tickets to go home and when they heard that domestic flights were being allowed they managed to raise Rs30,600 for their journey which was cancelled. Reports said that they were not refunded for the tickets. Their family had sold their goats back home to raise the money, the report said.

The flight was cancelled after the West Bengal state government imposed restrictions on it. Several flights were cancelled due to lack of coordination between states and the Centre after the former feared that surge of passengers would lead to rise in infections of COVID-19 cases.

The airlines said that it has now booked tickets for the workers for June 1 at no extra charge, Bloomberg said.
