India has recorded 5,676 new Covid-19 cases, while the number of active cases has reached to 37,093, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday. While 21 deaths have been registered in 24 hours. However, there was a marginal decrease in daily Covid-19 cases at 5,676 compared to the 5,880 cases of Monday.

21 deaths in 24 hours in the country
According to the the data updated at 8 am, with 21 deaths in 24 hours, the total death count has increased to 5,31,000. While three deaths each were reported from Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan, two were recorded in Karnataka and one each in Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu besides six reconciled by Kerala.
Delhi reports 484 cases, 3 deaths
Delhi reported 484 cases with a positivity rate of 26.58 per cent and three fatalities on Monday. Earlier, on Sunday Delhi logged 699 Covid cases and four deaths due to the infection.
Gujarat logs 212 new cases, 1 death
Gujarat recorded 212 new cases of Covid-19 and one death on Monday. While 292 patients recovered from the infection. Ahmedabad, was at the top in the tally with 78 cases, whereas Baroda 32, Surat 23, Gandhinagar 19, Morbi 11, Mehsana 9, Anand 6 and Rajkot reported 3 new cases of Covid – 19. One fatality due to Covid has been reported from Ahmedabad. Currently, there are total 1932 active cases in the state, out of which 4 patients are being treated on ventilator.
2nd day of Mock drill in Gujarat
Meanwhile, today is the second day of mock drill organized by State government as per direction of the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Mock drill is held to check the preparedness of the hospitals to tackle the situation arising from high number of covid-19 cases. Mock drill is organized at 9231 Sub Health Centers, 1475 Primary Health Centre, 365 Community Health Centers besides Government Civil Hospital and other private hospitals in the state.
