India’ coronavirus tally touches 11,439, death toll rises to 377


The death toll related to novel coronavirus has climbed to 377 in India on Wednesday while the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has surged past the 11,000-mark.

In the last 24 hours, ending 8 am on Wednesday, India has recorded 38 deaths and seen 1,076 new cases of coronavirus. With over a thousand fresh cases, India’s COVID-19 tally now stands at 11,439. These include 9,756 active cases while 1,306 patients have either been discharged or cured, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has said. The total number of cases includes 76 foreign nationals.

According to the ministry’s data, the highest number of confirmed cases in the country is from Maharashtra at 2,687 followed by Delhi at 1,561 and Tamil Nadu at 1,204.

The cases have gone up to 969 in Rajasthan followed by 730 in Madhya Pradesh, 660 in Uttar Pradesh and 624 in Telangana. Gujarat has 650 cases, followed by Andhra Pradesh at 483 and Kerala at 387.

The number of novel coronavirus cases has risen to 278 in Jammu and Kashmir, 260 in Karnataka, 199 in Haryana and 213 in West Bengal. Punjab has reported 176 infections so far.

Bihar has reported 66 cases, while Odisha has 60 coronavirus cases. Thirty-seven people were infected with the virus in Uttarakhand, while Himachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have 33 cases each followed by Assam with 32 cases.

Jharkhand has 27 cases, Chandigarh has 21 cases and Ladakh has 17, while 11 cases have been reported from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Goa and Puducherry have each reported seven COVID-19 infections. Manipur and Tripura have two cases each.
