India again reports biggest single-day jump in COVID-19 cases, death toll at 7,135

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has informed that 9,983 fresh cases of coronavirus were reported in the country in the past 24 hours ending at 8 am on Monday. This is the biggest single-day rise in coronavirus cases ever since the pandemic began.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total case count for coronavirus in the country crossed the 2.5 lakh-mark and currently, stands at 2,56,611. The death toll due to the deadly virus has also surpassed the 7,000-mark and currently, stands at 7,135 after 206 fresh deaths due to COVID-19 were reported in the country.

This is the fifth consecutive day that India has continued to register close to 10,000 single-day COVID-19 infections.

Coronavirus cases in India on Sunday morning witnessed a spike of 9,971 COVID-19 infections in a span of 24 hours. As the coronavirus cases continue to rapidly increase in the country, India has claimed the fifth spot in the list of countries worst affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The top five countries in terms of coronavirus cases in the world are the United States, Brazil, Russia, the United Kingdom, and India.
