New Delhi: The country reported 38,079 new cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours, the health department said on Saturday morning. As many as 560 patients lost their lives to the infection.
The death toll has now reached 4.13 lakh. The active case load has declined to 4.24 lakh, and accounts for 1.36 per cent of the total cases reported so far.
The weekly positivity rate stands at 2.1 per cent, while the daily positivity rate is 1.91 per cent, staying below 3 per cent for 26 straight days.
Over 39.96 lakh doses of vaccine were administered in 24 hours. So far,
39.96 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country. Over 18 crore were given in 26 days of the Centre’s mega vaccination drive which was launched last month.
Also, 44.2 crore tests have been conducted till now.
Kerala, which has been reporting the maximum number of Covid-19 cases in the country, has continued with its weekend lockdown.
On Friday, while interacting with chief ministers of different states, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called for proactive measures to prevent the possibility of the third wave. He advised them to make all possible arrangements to protect children from getting infected.
