The much touted social distancing norms went for a toss in Vadodara as officials converged to inaugurate a testing lab at a hospital, local media reports said. Even the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for Covid19 in Vadodara, Vinod Rao as well as the municipal commissioner Nalin Upadhyay were found to be violating the social distancing norms.
The testing lab was inaugurated at the Vadodara Gotri Covid hospital and around 40 people had turned up for the inauguration. While all of them wore the requisite mask, none, including the officials followed the social distancing norms. Vadodara has reported the third highest number of cases and deaths in Gujarat.
Meanwhile, the ST buses began plying in the city and district with adequate precautions being taken. Buses are being run in eight talukas of the districts. 52 buses will in all take 452 trips in a day and each bus will ferry only 26 passengers to maintain social distancing norms. Earlier the government had clarified that only passengers who don’t show any Covid19 symptoms will be allowed to board the vehicles. All passengers will be required to use the sanitiser before entering the buses.
