On beginning of the second fortnight of April, scorching heat is being experienced by the people in most of the parts across country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued an orange alert for extreme shoot up in the temperature in three states— West Bengal, Bihar, and Andhra Pradesh. It added that four other states— Jharkhand, Odisha, Sikkim, and Uttar Pradesh are also likely to experience heatwave like conditions. Furthermore, similar warning for heatwave has been issued for Punjab and Haryana. Meanwhile, western disturbance has been activated and thunderstorms are likely to occur in western Himalaya areas and the in plains.

According to forecast, people will feel relief from scorching heat in Northwestern India due to western disturbance developed in western Himalaya region. IMD further predicted that some parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab might get some relief due to western disturbance. Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan may have isolated rain during April 18-20. According to forecast of IMD, Jammu – Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh Ladakh and parts of Uttarakhand under Himalaya region will experience heavy rain. Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab may have a few spells of hailstorm.
According to IMD, after little relief in some areas due to rain, the temperature will again rise. Meanwhile, parts of northwest, central and east India recorded temperature between 40-42 degree Celsius on April 17. In the next three days, the temperature for North West India will shoot up by 2-3 degrees. There is also a possibility of heat wave on April 18 in western Uttar Pradesh and on April 18-19 in eastern Uttar Pradesh. The rise of 2-3 degrees in temperature can also be seen in Central India.
