As the Indian Armed Forces rained rose petals on hospitals across the country to thank Covid-19 frontline warriors, a heart rending post by a resident doctor has raised questions about the facilities being provided to frontline warriors of Covid19.
A Whatsapp post in a group of doctors appealing to the administration to at least show the frontline workers the little bit of consideration that is reserved for animals has gone viral. “Please consider us as human beings ..or atleast (sic) as animals,” the poem says.
The post also shows that the public relation drama apart, the frontline workers are facing humongous risk with no support from the government or administration. The post is by a doctor who recounted his experience after testing positive in a government facility. The anguished post appeals for help.
The post seems to be in reference to 17 doctors who had tested positive at the Gujarat Cancer Research Institute and were made to wait long hours before being offered treatment. The post mentions how the administration lied to the residents and ignored their warnings. “You told us there was no risk and asked us to continue work and that there was no need for a test,” the post mentions.
The doctor who tested positive at 2.30 pm could only get a bed at 11.30 in the night. Before that they had to wait outside to be treated and the administration said it was helpless to do much.
