In a bid to expedite the resolution of grievances of taxpayers, a grievance redressal fortnight is being observed from June 1 to June 15 across all offices of the Income Tax (I-T) department in Gujarat. The department has 37 offices across the state and aims to expedite the redressal of public grievances regarding the disposal of appeal effects and rectification claims.
As per the I-T department, top priority will be accorded to the redressal of grievances received on the CPGRAMS portal, e-nivaran, and other means. Priority will be given to requests for giving appeal effect and passing of rectification orders, with special attention to the cases of demands on accounts of TDS mismatch and disputed demand.
The department has urged taxpayers to make use of the opportunity for the resolution of their grievances.
The principal chief commissioner of income tax AD Mehrotra told Gujarat Exclusive that the fortnight will be observed in all 37 offices of the department in Gujarat. “We are observing the fortnight to facilitate taxpayers in resolving their grievances related to the I-T department. At the end of the fortnight, we will gather data from all our offices in the state to analyse the number of taxpayers who approached us for a resolution and whether their grievances have been resolved or not,” he said.
