Home ministry allows final year exams to be conducted subject to COVID-19 safety guidelines

The Home Ministry on Monday said that universities and institutes can hold end of term exams but will have to follow COVID-19 safety guidelines. “The Home Ministry in a letter to the Union Higher Education Secretary, today permitted the conduct of examinations by Universities and Institutions,” a Home Ministry statement said.

“The final term examinations are to be compulsorily conducted as per the UGC Guidelines on Examinations and Academic Calendar for the Universities and as per the Standard Operating Procedure approved by the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare,” the statement said.

Gujarat that was all set to conduct final year examinations for the post graduate and undergraduate courses had cancelled it some days ago citing an earlier MHA order. It remains to be seen whether the education department will now announce the new dates. Students had opposed the examination as the state registered a rise in COVID-19 cases.
