Delhi temperature dips as heavy rains lash city

New Delhi: After experiencing all-time high temeperature, residents in and around Delhi experienced some relief.
Heavy rain and thunderstorm lashed the region on Monday morning, drastically bringing down mercury levels.
Last week, the maximum average temperature in the national capital had touched 49, an all-time high.
“One of the tremendous impacts of the thunderstorm is a drastic fall in surface temperature. Today, just from 5:40 am till 7 am, temperature fell by 11 degree Celsius, from 29 degree Celsius to 18 degree Celsius,” the India Meteorological Department said.
Gusty winds with speed of 60-90 km per hour are expected to continue in the NCR region during the day, according to IMD.
The heavy rain resulted in flight distruption. Several trees got uprooted because of the wind.
