Ahmedabad: Due to the effect of Cyclone Gulab that hit Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, heavy rain was witness in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar on Monday morning.
Several areas in Ahmedabad were water-logged, leading to traffic commotion. Areas like Sola, Science City, Ghatlodia, Chandlodia, Ranip, Bopal, etc received rain on Monday morning. Zone-wise, north-west Ahmedabad received the highest average rainfall of 39.13 mm in 6 hours up to 12 noon.
Area-wise, Chandlodia received 50 mm, which was the highest in the city. Science City received 40.5 mm, Bodakdev 34 mm, Gota 32 and Bopal 23.5 mm.
The city is likely to receive heavy rain in the next 24 hours as well.
49 taluka receive rain in 4 hours
Across the state, 49 taluka received rain in four hours between 6 am and 10 am. Posina taluka in Sabarkantha received 60 mm rain, Mehsana taluka 49 mm, Kadi in Mehsana 46 mm and Halvad in Morbi 37 mm.
In last 24 hours, 147 taluka received rain.
The state has received 83 per cent of its average annual rainfall till now.
In Surat, water was released from the Ukai dam. Low lying areas in the vicinity have been put on alert.
