At a time when the country is struggling with the explosive outbreak of Covid-19, a section of individuals and organizations have been coming forward to offer whatever help they can. Among these is the Vadtal Swaminarayan temple in Kheda district that has been offering its services to Covid patients and their families.
For some time now, the temple has been delivering freshly cooked meals twice a day for free to Covid patients in 15 hospitals and 35 villages in Nadiad and Anand. The meal includes dal, rice, roti, sabji, milk, fruit and fruit juice. The administration has even provided helpline numbers where those who need the food delivery service can call and inform about their requirement.
According to the temple authorities, calls for lunch, along with the quantity required, are to be made before 8 am and for dinner before 3 pm. Volunteers from the temple deliver the food at the given address. Of the 15 hospitals where they deliver the food, six are in Nadiad and nine in Anand.
The temple administration has also been offering other services during the pandemic. Besides the tiffin service, the temple has a Covid care centre where patients who are treated for free. Also, there is an isolation/quarantine centre where family members of positive patients can quarantine themselves in case they cannot isolate themselves at home.
