Wrestlers have opened the front against Wrestling Federation of India and its President. Many top wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat and others have returned to Delhi’s Jantar Mantar for dharna once again. They accuse Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of managing functioning of Federation autonomously. Vinesh Phogat has raised allegations against federation of sexually assaulting women wrestlers.
Meanwhile, there are reports that all Khap Panchayat from Haryana will reach Delhi to support wrestlers protesting at Jantar-Mantar. Bajrang Punia, one of the wrestlers protesting against Federation earlier appealed Khap Panchayats to support them.
Punia, on April 24, said, “We made a mistake last time. We are players, we do not know politics. We need your help today, support us. Such a big players are staging dharna. If nothing happens now, nothing will happen in future also. Support us in the fight of our sisters and daughters. This fight is against a Bahubali. So many big players are sitting on strike. If nothing happened now, then nothing will happen in the future. Support us in the battle of our sisters and daughters. This fight is against a powerful person (Bahubali).
Subsequently, all Khap panchayats became very active by evening of April, 25. They decided to visit Jantar-Mantar and support the wrestlers. Some Khap Panchayats are still waiting for a call. However, all have consented to support wrestlers. Jagbir Malik, spokesperson of the Sarvakhap Panchayat, a coalition of different Khaps from Haryana said, “ We are with our daughters,” They are crying sitting at Jantar Mantar. Something must have been happened to them. They are wrestlers, they can never sit and cry like this, all Khap Panchayats are with them.”
