- Refutes speculations of joining BJP
Ahmedabad: Congress working president Hardik Patel who triggered speculations about joining BJP after openly praising the party has refuted the speculations. He clarified that he was upset with the state leadership, not Rahul Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi.
“I’m not upset with Rahul Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi. I am upset with the state leadership. Why am I upset? Elections are coming up & in such times work should be done together with honest & strong people. They should be given positions,” Hardik Patel was quoted by ANI.
“People who work on rural level to strengthen the party should be given opportunities. It’s poll time, go to villages, work hard in cities,” he added.
On talks of his being miffed with Congress, he brushed them aside as “family” matters. Hardik Patel has earlier voiced his displeasure with the functioning of Congress and at being side-lined.
Commenting on the praises he had heaped upon BJP, he said that if rival parties did something commendable, it should be taken note of.
“People will talk. I praised Joe Biden when he won US polls as he chose a Vice-President of Indian origin. Does that mean I’m joining his party? If rival does something praiseworthy, we need to see that too,” he said.
