Varanasi: The Supreme Court has instructed the Varanasi court hearing the Gyanvapi Masjid case not to pass any order on Thursday as it will hear a petition related to the matter on Friday.
The report of the three-day videography of Gyanvapi Masjid, which was concluded on Monday, has been submitted to the Varanasi court.
However, the Supreme Court has asked it not to pass any order. The Apex court is currently hearing a petition by the Gyanvapi Masjid management committee challenging the lower court’s order allowing the survey of the premises. The hearing will be held on Friday as well.
The survey, conducted on May 14-15, had been ordered on the basis of a petition by a group of Hindu women claiming that there were idols of Hindu deities inside the premises.
They had also sought permission to offer daily prayers at the temple near the wall of the mosque.
The mosque committee had approached the SC and sought suspension of the proceedings.
The SC bench has posted the detailed hearing of the committee’s petition on Friday afternoon.
