The final exams for Under Graduate and Post Graduate students of Gujarat University will begin from July 2. The decision was taken at the academic and executive council meeting held on Thursday. The candidates will be given two hours to finish the exams instead of the earlier three hours.
Candidates who are suffering from COVID-19 or are from containment zones will have to appear for the exams in August or September. To prevent the students from outside Ahmedabad from having to travel long, the exams will also be conducted at district centres.
Most of the outside students of the university are from eight districts of the state.
A meeting chaired by in-charge Vice-Chancellor Jagdish Bhavsar to discuss the issue on Tuesday had failed to arrive at a consensus. Over 90,000 students are enrolled in various final year courses in the university.
Earlier the education department had made some announcements regarding the pending university final exams and the admissions to courses in the new academic year. This will be applicable to semester 2 and 4 students of arts, science and commerce streams. Later it had postpone the exams to July.
