* Edu dept asks colleges to conduct exams
The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has postponed the GUJCET exams scheduled to be held on July 30, this year in view of the COVID-19 cases in the country. The board in a release said that the exams will now be held on August 22. GUJCET is the entrance exam for students wishing to enter engineering and pharmacy colleges in Gujarat. In all, over 49,000 students from Group A, over 75,000 students from Group B and over 300 students from Group AB were to appear for the exams. In all 1,25,781 students had filled the forms to appear for the entrance exam.
The Gujarat education department has in a circular asked universities to conduct exams as per UGC guidelines. The education department has said that the exams can be taken offline,online or a combination of both. It has also urged that online exams be held for students who need it urgently to apply for universities abroad. It has also asked that exams be conducted in a way that movement is restricted to the minimum for students particularly those who will be appearing at the district level.
