Gujarat:Malnutrition in children is raised on head up to 28%


Gujarat is one of the major industrialized states of India with consistently high rates of economic growth and high urbanization. Approximately 1.42 lakh children in Gujarat are malnourished and the problem of malnutrition is raised on head in Gujarat and which is increased the number of children by 28% in last 1 year.

In India about 30 to 40% of the children are suffering from malnutrition.But if we look Gujarat in terms of business and employment it is on the front foot so why children’s in this developed state are suffering from malnutrition?this question naturally arises. Although, the government are spending crores of rupees to provide nutritious food to children’s,yet they suffer from malnutrition.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani announced in the Legislative Assembly that 1.11 lakh children are malnourished in the year 2017-18 in Gujarat.Out of which 19,980 children struggled to sustain themselves.However,In 2019 the government again declared that 1.42 lakh children are suffering from malnutrition for not getting enough and nutritious food.

Chandadia,a village with a population of 1,530 people,located in Chhota Udepur where poor families can’t get enough food. Women there are lean and malnutrition in children is up to 50% and 78% of children are underweight.44% of children do not have weight according to their height.
