Gujarati film superstar Naresh Kanodiya is no more


Gujarati film superstar turned politician Naresh Kanodiya breathed his last on Tuesday morning at the UN Mehta Institute Of Cardiology And Research Centre where he was admitted after testing COVID-19 positive.

Later Naresh Kanodiya’s condition worsened and he had to be put on a ventilator. Rumours had emerged two days ago that Kanodiya had succumbed but his son Hitu Kanodiya had dismissed the same.

Interestingly, Naresh Kanodiya’s brother singer and former Patan MLA Mahesh Kanodiya had passed away on October 25. Mahesh Kanodiya had been ill for some time and passed away at his home in Gandhinagar.

Naresh Kanodiya’s career

Naresh Kanodiya, 77, was part of over 125 Gujarati films. Some of his very popular movies include Hiran ne kaanthe, Meru Malan, Dholamaru, Palvade Bandhi Preet among others. He also shared musical credits with his brother Mahesh in several movies. 

He began his career with the movie Veline Aavya Phool. His pairing with actress Snehlata was very popular with the audience.

He later married Reema and had a son Hitu Kanodiya. Hitu is also a Gujarati movie actor. Hitu is married to Gujarati actress Mona Thiba. The couple has a son. Kanodiya senior lived with his family in Gandhinagar.
