Gujarat University defers exams scheduled from July 2 & 13


The Gujarat University has decided to defer the exams that were scheduled to be held from July 2 and 13. The decision was taken at a meeting of top officials recently.

The varsity had earlier announced that the college exams will be of two hours instead of three hours. In all, exams for 61 courses were to be held from July 2 while final exams for 15 semester courses were to begin from July 13. It had also announced that the exams for semester exams will be of 50 marks instead of the usual 100 marks.

Around 350 colleges are affiliated to the Gujarat University with over 1 lakh students who were scheduled to appear for the exams. The university had since the announcement of the date for exams was under pressure from students to cancel it given the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state particularly in Ahmedabad that has the highest number of cases.

The annual exam for colleges scheduled to be held in April were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resultant lockdown.
