Gujarat reports 262 COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths

Gujarat has reported 262 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Friday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally past 8.21 lakh.

10,023 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat

Unfortunately, five deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 10,023. While two deaths were reported from Ahmedabad, Surat reported one death. One death has been reported each from Vadodara and Jamnagar.

42 fresh cases in Ahmedabad, 37 in Surat

Of the 262 fresh cases reported on Friday, 42 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 37 cases have been reported from Surat, 25 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and four cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.

This apart, 22 cases were reported from Rajkot, Bhavnagar reported one case, Mehsana reported three cases, and six cases were reported from Jamnagar.

Meanwhile, Junagarh has reported 21 fresh cases of the virus, whereas the tribal district of Panchamahals has reported five fresh cases. Dahod has reported one case, Amreli eight cases, and Kheda three cases.

Similarly, Bharuch has reported eight cases, Valsad has reported seven cases, Anand seven cases, and Patan reported no fresh case.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 2.37 lakh The total tally has reached 1.43 lakh in Surat, 78,158 in Vadodara, and 20,451 in Gandhinagar.

8.04 lakh COVID-19 patients discharged so far

According to the health department, there are over 7,230 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 198 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 8.04 lakh patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. In fact, 776 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
