Gujarat has reported 239 fresh cases of coronavirus in the past 24-hours ending at 5 pm on Tuesday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken the state’s coronavirus case tally to 2,178.
After eight deaths were reported from Gujarat on Monday, 19 fresh deaths were again reported on Tuesday that pushed the state’s death toll due to COVID-19 to 90. Out of the 19 deaths in the state, 15 deaths have been reported from Ahmedabad and two deaths have been reported from Surat. Bhavnagar and Bharuch have each reported a death.
Out of the 239 new cases, 130 cases are of Ahmedabad alone, whereas Surat reported78 cases and Vadodara reported six fresh cases.
With the addition of the 130 fresh cases till 5 pm on Tuesday, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Ahmedabad has increased to 1,378—the highest in Gujarat. The city has also reported the maximum number of deaths in the state. After six deaths were reported on Monday, 15 deaths were again reported on Tuesday that pushed the death toll due to the deadly virus to 53 in Ahmedabad.
Apart from the 1,378 COVID-19 cases reported from Ahmedabad so far, Surat has reported 347 cases, followed by Vadodara with 194 cases and Rajkot with 40 cases. Bhavnagar has reported 32 cases and Anand has reported 28 cases. Bharuch has reported 24 cases, whereas the capital city of Gandhinagar reported 17 cases. Patan and Banaskantha have each reported 15 cases.
Similarly, Narmada and Aravalli have reported 12 cases each and Panchmahals reported 11 cases. Chhota Udepur, Mehsana, and Botad have each reported seven cases, whereas Kutch reported six cases and Dahod reported four cases. Porbandar, Valsad, and Mahisagar have reported three cases each. The coastal district of Gir-Somnath, Kheda, and Sabarkantha have each reported three cases. The districts of Jamnagar, Tapi, and Morbi have reported a case each.
According to the Health Department, out of the total cases, 14 people are in a critical state and put on ventilator support, 1,935 people are stable, 139 people have been discharged, and 90 have died. Information made available by the department also provides that 2,111 cases out of the total 2,178 are incidents of local transmission, 33 people have a history of international travel, and 34 have a history of inter-state travel.
As far as deaths are concerned, apart from the 53 deaths reported in Ahmedabad, 11 deaths have been reported from Surat and eight deaths have been reported from Vadodara. Bhavnagar is trailing Vadodara with five deaths. Gandhinagar, Anand, Bharuch, and Panchmahals have each reported two deaths, and one death each has been reported from Jamnagar, Botad, Kutch, Aravalli, and Patan. Out of the 90 deaths, three had a history of international travel, three had a history of inter-state travel, and the rest 84 cases were incidents of local transmission.
So far, 30,354 people have been placed under quarantine.
