Gujarat has reported 191 fresh cases of coronavirus in the past 24-hours ending at 5 pm on Friday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken the state’s coronavirus case tally to 2,815.
After nine deaths were reported from Gujarat on Thursday, 15 fresh deaths were again reported on Friday that pushed the state’s death toll due to COVID-19 to 127. Out of the 15 deaths in the state, 14 deaths have been reported from Ahmedabad and one death has been reported from Surat.
Out of the 191 new cases, 169 cases are of Ahmedabad alone, whereas Surat reported six cases and Vadodara reported five fresh cases. Anand and Panchmahals have each reported three cases, whereas Bhavnagar has reported two cases. The districts of Gandhinagar, Botad, and Valsad have reported one case each.
With the addition of the 169 fresh cases till 5 pm on Friday, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Ahmedabad has increased to 1,821—the highest in Gujarat. The city has also reported the maximum number of deaths in the state. After seven deaths were reported on Thursday, 14 deaths were again reported on Friday that pushed the death toll due to the deadly virus to 83 in Ahmedabad.
Apart from the 1,821 COVID-19 cases reported from Ahmedabad so far, Surat has reported 462 cases, followed by Vadodara with 223 cases and Rajkot with 41 cases. Bhavnagar reported 34 cases and Anand reported 33 cases. Bharuch has reported 29 cases, whereas the capital city of Gandhinagar reported 19 cases. Banaskantha has reported 16 cases, followed by Patan and Panchmahals with 15 cases each.
Similarly, Aravalli has reported 18 cases, whereas Narmada and Botad each reported 12 cases. Chhota Udepur reported 11 cases. Mahisagar reported nine cases. Mehsana has reported seven cases, whereas Kutch reported six cases. Kheda and Valsad have each reported five cases, whereas Dahod reported four cases. Porbandar, Gir Somnath, and Sabarkantha have reported three cases each. The districts of Jamnagar, Tapi, Navsari, Dang, and Morbi have reported a case each.
According to the Health Department, out of the total cases, 29 people are in a critical state and put on ventilator support, 2,394 people are stable, 265 people have been discharged, and 127 have died. Information made available by the department also provides that 2,748 cases out of the total 2,815 are incidents of local transmission, 33 people have a history of international travel, and 34 have a history of inter-state travel.
As far as deaths are concerned, apart from the 83 deaths reported in Ahmedabad, 14 deaths have been reported from Surat and 11 deaths have been reported from Vadodara. Bhavnagar is trailing Vadodara with five deaths. Gandhinagar, Anand, Bharuch, and Panchmahals have each reported two deaths, and one death each has been reported from Jamnagar, Botad, Kutch, Aravalli, Valsad, and Patan. Out of the 127 deaths, three had a history of international travel, three had a history of inter-state travel, and the rest 121 cases were incidents of local transmission.
So far, 33,734 people have been placed under quarantine.
