Gujarat has reported 1,120 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Sunday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally to 78,783.
2,787 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat
Twenty deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 2,787. While eight deaths have been reported from Surat, four deaths have been reported from Ahmedabad. Bhavnagar and Morbi have reported two deaths each, whereas Gir Somnath has reported one death. The districts of Kutch, Patan and Vadodara have reported one death each.
228 fresh cases in Surat, 164 in Ahmedabad
Of the 1,120 fresh cases reported on Sunday, 228 cases have been reported from Surat and 164 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad. Similalrly, 111 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and 29 cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.
This apart, Rajkot has reported 99 cases, Bhavnagar has reported 38 cases, Mehsana 22 cases, and Jamnagar 58 cases.

Meanwhile, Junagarh has reported 34 fresh cases of the virus, whereas the tribal district of Panchamahals has reported 45 fresh cases. Dahod has reported 26 cases, Amreli 25 cases and Kheda 13 cases.
Similarly, Bharuch has reported 30 cases, Valsad has reported six cases, Anand nine cases, and Patan nine cases.
With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 29,004. The total tally has reached 16,914 in Surat, 6,382 in Vadodara, and 1,942 in Gandhinagar.
Ahmedabad’s COVID-19 death toll climbs to 1,660
Similarly, the addition of the four fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,660. The death toll has increased to 557 in Surat, whereas it remains 111 for Vadodara and 49 for Gandhinagar.
61,596 COVID-19 patients discharged so far
According to the health department, there are 14,500 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 82 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 61,596 patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. Over 959 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
