Gujarat reports 1,078 COVID-19 cases, 25 deaths in 24 hours

Gujarat has reported 1,078 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Sunday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally to 71,064.

2,654 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat

Twenty-five deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 2,654. While nine deaths have been reported from Surat, five deaths have been reported from Rajkot. Ahmedabad and Vadodara have reported three deaths each, whereas Kutch reported two deaths. The districts of Junagarh and Mehsana have reported one death each. A patient belonging to another state also died due to COVID-19 in Gujarat on Sunday.

222 fresh cases in Surat, 153 in Ahmedabad

Of the 1,078 fresh cases reported on Sunday, 222 cases have been reported from Surat, 153 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 110 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and 27 cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.

This apart, Rajkot has reported 95 cases, Bhavnagar has reported 35 cases, Mehsana 11 cases, and Jamnagar 63 cases.

Meanwhile, Junagarh has reported 27 fresh cases of the virus, whereas the tribal district of Panchamahals has reported 47 fresh cases. Dahod has reported 18 cases, Amreli 35 cases and Kheda 11 cases.

Similarly, Bharuch has reported 28 cases, Valsad has reported 21 cases, Anand five cases, and Patan 11 cases.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 27,898. The total tally has reached 15,225 in Surat, 5,612 in Vadodara, and 1,727 in Gandhinagar.

Ahmedabad’s COVID-19 death toll climbs to 1,634

Similarly, the addition of the three fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,634. The death toll has increased to 507 in Surat, whereas it remains 100 for Vadodara and 47 for Gandhinagar.

54,138 COVID-19 patients discharged so far

According to the health department, there are 14,272 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 73 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 54,138 patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. Over 1,311 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
