- Sixth consecutive day of recording over 900 cases in a day
Gujarat on Saturday recorded 960 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the highest ever recorded so far. This is the sixth time that the per day cases have crossed the 900 mark.
With this, the total number of cases in the state stands at 47,476 while the death toll is 2,127. The state recorded 19 new deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours.
The state has recorded over 800 cases for four consecutive days while it has recorded over 700 cases five times so far.
The highest number of cases were recorded in Surat at 268 followed by Ahmedabad which had 199 cases. Vadodara and Gandhinagar recorded 78 and 28 cases respectively.
With this the total number of cases in Surat now stands at 9,408 while it is 24,163 for Ahmedabad.
Vadodara has 3,508 cases while Gandhinagar has 1,060 cases.
Of the total 19 deaths recorded in the state in the last 24 hours, 10 were in Surat, four in Ahmedabad, two in Kutch and one each in Navsari, Banaskantha and Rajkot.
The total number of deaths in Surat stands at 249 for Surat, 1,541 for Ahmedabad, 55 for Vadodara and 38 for Gandhinagar.
The total number of active cases in the state is 11,344.
