Fifth consecutive day of recording over 900 cases in a day
Gujarat on Friday recorded 949 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the highest ever recorded so far. This is the fifth time that the per day cases have crossed the 900 mark.
With this, the total number of cases in the state stands at 46,516 while the death toll is 2,108. The state recorded 17 new deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours.
The state has recorded over 800 cases for four consecutive days while it has recorded over 700 cases five times so far.
The highest number of cases were recorded in Surat at 234 followed by Ahmedabad which had 184 cases. Vadodara and Gandhinagar recorded 77 and 32 cases respectively.
With this the total number of cases in Surat now stands at 9,141 while it is 23,964 for Ahmedabad.
Vadodara has 3,430 cases while Gandhinagar has 1,032 cases.
Of the total 17 deaths recorded in the state in the last 24 hours, five were in Surat and Ahmedabad each, two in Rajkot and Bhavnagar each and one in Gandhinagar, Vadodara and Patan each.
The total number of deaths in Surat stands at 239 for Surat, 1,537 for Ahmedabad, 55 for Vadodara and 38 for Gandhinagar.
The total number of active cases in the state is 11,464.
