Gujarat tableau at Republic Day parade to highlight tribals’ contribution in freedom movement

Gandhinagar: Gujarat’s tableau which will be part of the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi on Republic Day this year will display the contribution of tribals in the state to the freedom movement of the country.

The 45-feet-long, 14-feet-wide and 15-feet-long official tableau will represent the incident of indiscriminate firing by the British army on the tribal revolutionaries of Pal-Dadhvaav villages in Sabarkantha district.

A seven-feet-tall statue of Motilal Tejawat who was regarded as the Gandhi of Koliyari by the tribals will be the main highlight of the tableau.

Apart from these, there are other statues as well on it. Besides, six artistes will be enacting the incident.

According to an official communique by the state government, there will be 4-feet-tall statues of four tribal freedom fighters carrying torches as the symbol of revolution.

The tableau has been prepared under the guidance of Information & Broadcasting department secretary Avantika Singh, director of Information DP Desai, subject expert and historian Vishnu Pandya, Pankaj Modi and deputy director of information Hiren Bhatt.
