Gujarat police to fill up 27,847 posts in coming months: Harsh Sanghvi

Ahmedabad: The state government would make nearly 28,000 appointments in the Gujarat police in the coming months. The announcement was made by minister of state (Home) Harsh Sanghvi on Monday.

The decision was taken by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel who also holds the portfolio of Home in Gujarat government. The recruitment will be done across several ranks in the department.

A total of 27,847 seats, including of unarmed police sub-inspector, armed PSI (platoon commander), intelligence officer, unarmed assistant sub-inspector, Lok Rakshak Dal as well as technical cadres like motor transport, wireless, technical operator, home guard and gram rakshak dal (honorary) will be filled up during this recruitment drive.

The fresh round of recruitment in Gujarat police will further improve the state’s law & order situation, Sanghvi said, adding that the recruitments were pending due to Covid-19 pandemic, but the state government decided to speed up the process. The planning for the recruitment is expected to be completed in next 100 days, he said.

The drive will also help aspiring youngsters to join the police force, the state government said.
