A total of 3,359 emergency cases were reported in the state during the ‘Uttarayan’ festivities in Gujarat. Uttarayan – 2021 saw a 33.19% rise in emergencies against the number of cases registered on normal days.
According to data released by GVK-EMRI 108, the number of emergency cases reported in the state on a normal day is 2,522 which increased to 3,359 on January 14 in the state.
Ahmedabad district registered 573 emergency cases in the state. Ahmedabad saw a hike of 39.76% in emergency cases when compared to normal days.
Six people have succumbed to Uttarayan related injuries in the state.
Cases on Uttarayan v/s Normal Days
A major hike in the number of emergency cases was seen in Rajkot, Panchmahals, Vadodara, and Gandhinagar districts. Although the highest number of emergency cases in terms of numbers were registered in Ahmedabad (573), Surat (289), Rajkot (233), and Dahod (13&) in the state.
GVK EMRI 108, COO – Jashvant Prajapati said that to meet the expected surge in emergency cases during the festivals they had placed 622 ambulances across the state.
774 out of the total emergency cases in the state pertained to vehicular accidents which saw a 123% hike on January 14 when compared to normal days.
Physical assault injury cases rose by 288.52% with 237 cases registered on the day of Uttarayan against 61 on normal days. 224 cases of abdominal pain were reported in the state on January 14.
