Woman in Mahisagar thrown out of her house for giving birth to girls

Aaquib Chhipa, Ahmedabad: A 30-year-old woman from Mahisagar district was allegedly ousted out from her home by her husband and in-laws for giving birth to girls. They allegedly told her that since she couldn’t produce a male heir she had no right to live in the house.

According to the FIR lodged by Manisha Chauhan with the Mahisagar women police station, her husband Rakesh Chauhan and in-laws asked her to get out of her marital home as they wanted to get Rakesh remarried.

The couple married in 2009. The woman further alleged that her husband called her a beggar and that he didn’t want to live with her anymore. She alleged that he demanded dowry and her father mortgaged his land to pay the dowry.

Despite giving money several times her husband continued to harass her. The harassment had been going on for the last six years.

The woman alleged that she put up with the harassment to save her marriage but her in-laws asked her to get out of their house and since their other son-in-law was a cop and they did not fear a complaint by her.

She alleged that she was finally forced out of her house by her brother-in-law.
The woman, a resident of Kharod village of Mahisagar, has been living with her parents for the last six months.
