A Gujarat-origin man has been put on the US’ Federal Bureau Of Investigation’s (FBI) Most Wanted List. The FBI has announced a reward of $100,000 (around Rs73.95 lakh) for anyone who can give information on Bhadresh Patel, who originally belongs to Viramgam in Gujarat.
As per the FBI, Bhadresh Patel is a resident of Kanthredi village in Viramgam. He figures in the Most Wanted List that was prepared by the agency in 2017. The details emerged after the agency tweeted about the same.
Bhadresh Patel made it to the list after he escaped authorities following the murder of his wife.
In 2015, he allegedly killed his wife with a sharp weapon inside the Dunkin Donuts coffee shop in Maryland. He has been absconding since then.
The agency in the tweet said anyone with information about Bhadresh Patel needs to inform the FBI or the nearest American High Commission.
The crime as per FBI
As per the FBI, Bhadresh Patel was 24 years when he killed his wife. Palak, who was 21 years. Both worked at the Dunkin Donuts coffee shop.
His wife Palak was killed with a kitchen knife. The murder happened in the presence of customers. He was last known to be at a hotel in New Jersey from where he took a taxi to Newark.
The couple’s visa had expired a month before the murder and it is believed that Palak wanted to return to India while Bhadresh wanted to stay in the US.
