Shopkeeper in Surat stabbed to death for refusing torn Rs50-note

A shopkeeper in Surat was stabbed to death after he refused to accept a torn Rs50 note from a customer. Two people have been arrested for the murder.

The incident was reported from Lambe Hanuman Road in Varachha where 28-year-old Amardeep ran a grocery store. On Sunday, two customers came to his shop and asked for a cold drink. Since they gave a torn Rs50 note he refused to accept it and asked them to give another note.

The two men turned violent and began to argue with the shopkeeper. They then repeatedly stabbed him in the stomach and chest killing him on the spot. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Varaccha police rushed to the spot and have registered a case of murder as per a complaint by the deceased’s brother.

Cops have arrested Shahrukh Sheikh and Zubair Sheikh who had stabbed the shopkeeper. Further investigation is on in the matter.
