Surat police have raided the premises of a Sarthana builder in the city and recovered Rs30 lakh in cash from him. The name of the builder emerged after the Surat police nabbed two people from a checkpoint in Bharuch with Rs25 lakh.
The two were allegedly on their way to meet Congress’ Karjan candidate Kritisinh Jadeja to hand over the money. During questioning the two people had allegedly said that they had been sent by the builder in Surat.
What is the Rs25 lakh cash for Karjan candidate case and how it led to Surat?
The local crime branch of Bharuch district police had nabbed Dipak Chauhan, resident of Karjan and one Lakshman Mokaria, a resident of Vadodara from a car that had a Vadodara registration number.
The car was on its way from Surat and was heading for Vadodara. Cops had recovered Rs25 lakh from them. After it emerged that the two were carrying the cash from Surat, the Bharuch police had informed the Surat police about the same.
The Surat police then raided the office of the builder in Rivera Atlantis in Surat. The cops recovered Rs30.95 lakh from the office.
The Surat crime branch also recorded the statement of the builder. The builder has admitted to sending Rs25 lakh to Kiritsinh Jadeja. The cops have also informed the election commission and the income tax department about the same.
