A 25-year-old woman in Rajkot who had been locked in a room for six months and recently rescued has died during treatment.
An NGO Saathi Seva Group along with cops had rescued the woman who was studying for her chartered accountancy course and had been locked in a room in a house in Sadhu Vasani road in Rajkot.
The girl had not eaten anything for the last eight days when she was rescued. She was moved to the hospital for treatment after her rescue where she succumbed later.
How the woman was rescued
Reports said the girl had already gone into a coma after being rescued. The NGO and police were informed of the situation after neighbours complained of a foul smell emanating from the room where she was kept.
When cops reached the place, the family refused them entry. It took a lot of argument before the NGO and cops could enter the room. They found the woman unconscious and foaming at the mouth. She was surrounded by pouches and buckets that had urine in them.
The NGO soon shifted the woman to a hospital. Investigations revealed that the family of the woman had been collecting funds for her treatment. It is also suspected that the family was into some occult beliefs that prevented them from getting the woman treated. The woman’s mother is also under investigation.
